    The scientific activities at the Military Medical Academy are directed to development of scientific and applied scientific projects and the related to it research advances of young scientists, as well as the development of international contacts with leading specialists from other countries. A part of the research works considers clinical-experimental issues and problems of fundamental and fundamental-applied character. Another part refers to the biological, radiation and chemical protection. Field mobile laboratories, methods for improving soldier’s protection are being developed and introduced; the problems related to the traumatism, the burns, the protection from nuclear, biological and chemical agents are studied profoundly.
    The last 5 years, the scientific production of the researchers of MMA comprises about 1500 publications and over 2000 participations in international scientific forums. The research activities of MMA are reflected in the Reference guides published annually by the Military Medical Scientific Information Center.
    Most of the military medical scientists are members of Bulgarian, European and world organisations and publishing boards.
    Periodically, scientific forums with international participation are held in the MMA considering topical issues of military medicine.
